In fact, some have said that using shampoos from OGX has actually led to hair loss. There is currently a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson saying that their OGX shampoo caused hair loss. Is Ogx Good for Your Hair?
If we believe the claims in the lawsuit, it does not appear that OGX is good for your hair. The DMDM hydantoin, one of the ingredients in many of the shampoos, appears to be the culprit for hair loss. So, at a minimum, we’d recommend staying away from any OGX shampoos or hair care products that include this ingredient. It is up to you if you want to try any of the other products offered by the company, or decide to stay away completely.

OGX is known for being a reasonably-priced shampoo. Most of their shampoos are available for the same price as other drugstore brands. But, even at its low price-point, is OGX worth it?

OGX is marketed as a high-quality shampoo with a drugstore price tag. At first glance, the shampoos do appear to be high-quality. On top of OGX’s attractive packaging, their shampoos also include many ingredients that have been shown to be very beneficial to hair. These ingredients include argan oil, keratin oil, coconut oil, and more.
However, with the on-going lawsuit against OGX, it appears that there are some individuals who have suffered hair loss after using one of the shampoos from OGX. This claim, if true, clearly makes one question the overall quality of OGX hair care products.
How Bad Is Ogx for Your Hair?
For some, using OGX shampoo, conditioner, or other hair care products may not lead to any adverse effects. However, for others, using OGX products has caused hair loss. OGX Lawsuit
As we mentioned above, there is currently a lawsuit against OGX and its parent company, Johnson & Johnson. Larissa Whipple, the plaintiff in the case, claims that she began to experience hair loss after using an OGX shampoo. According to the lawsuit, DMDM hydantoin, an ingredient found in many OGX shampoos, is responsible for the hair loss. In addition to the original plaintiff, other users have joined the suit saying that they faced OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo hair loss or hair loss from a different OGX product.
DMDM hydantoin is a base component of formaldehyde. It is a known carcinogen (which means it has been connected with cancer) and can also lead to hair loss and scalp irritation.
The lawsuit filed against Johnson & Johnson says that the company falsely represented their products through their claims that their shampoos and conditioners would nourish, revive, or soften hair, when in fact the products can lead to hair loss. The lawsuit also accuses Johnson & Johnson of failing to alert consumers to the dangers of DMDM hydantoin when they knew it was unsafe.
Closing Words: Is OGX Good?
Despite the large number of positive reviews when you search for OGX shampoos, conditioners, and other hair care products, we wouldn’t recommend using OGX products. When you look beyond the positive reviews, you’ll find that some of the negative reviews are quite bad and claim that using OGX is causing hair loss. With the current lawsuit against OGX, it just doesn’t seem like now is the right time to try a new product from OGX, or even continue using the bottle that may be in your shower.
