Sculpted Nails

What are sculpted nails?

So, what is sculptured acrylic nails?  Sculpted nails are simply nails that have been sculpted, or shaped, to something out of the norm.  If you go to a nail salon and ask for sculpted nails, you can request the nail shape that you desire, and the nail artist will work to bring your vision to reality.

Some different sculpted nail shapes included rounded, sharp stiletto nails, or coffin-shaped nails.

Aside from the number of design options available, there are a few other reasons why sculpted nails are so popular with many customers.

One of these reasons has to do with comparing sculpted acrylic nails vs tips.  With tips, you have to glue the plastic tips to your fingernails before filling in the nail with the gel or acrylic.  However, the sculptured nails vs tips difference is that no plastic tips need to be glued to your fingernails when making sculpted nails.  Rather, only the gel or acrylic material is needed.

Sculpted nails also offer more length options.  You have control over both the shape and length of your nails, which really is a great selling point.  Additionally, sculpted nails often work better with short or bitten nails and can also be helpful when trying to repair or correct broken or irregular nails.

How long do sculptured nails last?

Now that we’ve answered the question, “what is sculpted gel nails,” your next question may be, “how long do sculptured acrylic nails last?”

The exact length of time your sculpted nails will last can vary based on how rough you are with your nails and how quickly your natural nails grow.

However, in general, most sculpted nails last for multiple weeks.

Acrylic Nails vs Sculpted Nails

Acrylic nails and sculpted nails each have their own pros and cons.  Depending on your preferences and reasons for getting your nails done, one or the other may end up being the best solution for you.

One of the benefits associated with acrylic nails include how strong they are.  As you’re likely aware, getting acrylic nails put on involves gluing the acrylic to the tip of your real nail.  This also makes it less likely for the natural nail to break when the acrylic nail is removed.

However, if you’re looking for the most natural-looking nail, sculpted nails have the benefit over acrylic nails.  Acrylic nails look very thick, which does not match the appearance of our natural nails.

Another benefit of sculpted nails over acrylic nails is that you won’t need to do as much maintenance to keep your nails looking your best.  With acrylic nails, you will need to schedule and fill every few weeks.

Is acrylic or sculpting gel better?

The decision between sculpted gel nails vs acrylic is one you’ll need to make for yourself.  Consider your preferences and which type of nails feel best and work best over your natural nails.

As we shared above, some of the reasons sculpted nails are popular include the fact that they more closely resemble the appearance of a natural nail, are easier to maintain, and provide individuals with more freedom and flexibility regarding nail shape and length.

Can you do sculpted nails at home?

Just as you can do your own acrylic nails at home, it is also possible to do sculpted nails at home.  However, unless you have experience or are OK with your nails not looking perfect, sculpting nails is something you may decide is best left to the professionals.  If you do want to experiment with sculpting your own nails at home, be sure to give yourself some grace and leave plenty of time to experiment before wanting to go anywhere with ‘perfect’ nails.
