How Long Does It Take for Vitamin E to Grow Eyelashes?

Every individual is different, so the length of time vitamin E takes to grow eyelashes can vary from person to person.

However, with consistent use of vitamin E oil (at least three or four times every week), you may notice an improvement in your eyelashes in as little as two to four weeks.  Keep in mind that you’ll need to really stick with your routine and not miss any applications or skip a week, as it could really slow down the progress.

How to Use Vitamin E Oil on Eyelashes?

There are a few different ways you can use vitamin E oil on your eyelashes.

The first is to apply it to your lashes on its own.  For this method, just use a medicine dropper, which is included in many vitamin E bottles, to apply a thin amount along the top of your lash line.

The best time to apply vitamin E oil is at night, but you’ll want to wait 15 to 30 minutes before heading to bed to make sure you don’t get oil all over your pillow.

The other option is to mix vitamin E oil with other oils to create a thinner consistency.  Follow the steps below if you’re interested in trying this option.

  1. Combine the following ingredients:  3 teaspoons aloe vera gel, 1.5 teaspoons castor oil, 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 vitamin E capsule. Mix the ingredients together in a small container with a lid.
  2. Use a clean mascara wand to apply the mixture to your eyelashes (and eyebrows too, if desired) before going to bed.
  3. Allow the oils to sit on your eyes for at least 15 minutes before going to bed.
  4. Repeat these steps three or four times every week.
  5. You can store the mixture in the covered container for up to three or four months. With consistent application, you may begin to see noticeable results after the first week.

Can You Put Vitamin E Oil in Your Mascara?

It is better to apply vitamin E oil directly to your eyelashes than to try to mix it in with your mascara.  If you add too much vitamin E oil to your mascara, you’ll end up with a liquidy mess that won’t do its job and will smear and streak over your eyes.

Rather than trying to mix vitamin E oil with mascara, simply apply vitamin E oil to your lashes at night and still apply your mascara as usual in the morning.

Vitamin E: FAQs

Can vitamin E oil hurt your eyes?

Most people can safely use vitamin E oil around the eyes.  Vitamin E can be very hydrating, so if some gets on the skin around the eyes, it should not cause an adverse reaction.  However, individuals with skin types that are more likely to have a reaction to different ingredients may want to test a small area of their skin to confirm there is no reaction to the vitamin E oil.

Is too much vitamin E bad for skin?

As with any vitamin, it is important not to overdo it when using vitamin E.  Studies are still being conducted to determine the overall effectiveness of vitamin E and whether too much of it is a bad thing.  However, in most cases, vitamin E is good for the skin.  It is very hydrating and delivers antioxidants.
Antioxidants can help protect the skin.  They reduce free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress and damage the skin.  The antioxidants found in vitamin E can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and even the skin tone.  Applying vitamin E to the skin can also reduce inflammation and redness for an overall more youthful look.
